The armor of course is a metaphor. It represents the spiritual armaments needed to contend with evil. Each piece is specifically designed to parallel and combat various aspects of spiritual battle. The complete armor protects and informs of the attack one will encounter.
It is natural that people will imagine and create things that feel familiar to them. Every so often, it is good to update and reform your thoughts and imagination.
